What pathway to becoming or growing in nursing did you take?

There are so many different avenues to becoming a nurse and the possibilities once you're in are endless. Here are some ways you can either become a nurse or advance as a nurse

  • Nurse By Trade: Yes! You can become a nurse by trade. This is what people particularly refer to as a Licensed Vocational or Licensed Practical Nurse. The term varies depending on where you live but the two are the same.

  • Two year RN degree: This is an Associates Degree program. There are some prerequisites courses needed for entry that take about 1-2 years to complete.

  • 30- Unit Option RN Program. This is a bridge program from LVN to RN, that focuses soley on nursing courses to take and pass NCLEX- RN without a degree. This type of RN route comes with some restrictions.

  • Four years RN degree. This is a Bachelor's Degree in nursing. You can enter directly into this type of program with no previous degree or experience, like you would an Associate's Degree program.

  • You also have Master's level nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Degrees that come with a Master's Degree upon completion.
