In recent news nursing strikes have broke out across the country, with nurses rallying together to advocate for adequate pay (considering the economic crisis we are in), and safe nurse to patient ratios. In many areas of the country nurses put both their licenses and the safety of their patients at risk when being forced to care for an overwhelming amount of patients at the same time. What do we do in these situations? The only thing we can do. STRIKE!

Despite nurses' efforts to "stick it to the man", the man being major hospitals and healthcare organizations, many nurses feel nothing is being done to remedy the problem. Often strike nurses are blamed for lessening the effect of the strike by being readily available to pick up strike contracts for nearly triple or quadruple the staff nurse salary. While some nurses state strike nurses hinder progress, some feel someone has to be there to take care of the patients. What are your thoughts? Are strike nurses getting in the way of progress? How quickly would a strike end if there was no one out there for hospitals to depend on?
